Words of Wisdom:

JOYS OF PARENTHOOD
Being a parent is the best thing I've ever done with my life. I enjoy my daughter tremendously, and I cannot think of anything I would rather be than be a parent. It is the best thing I've ever done. But it doesn't mean it's the easiest thing I've ever done. I mean like this morning, it was like she was screaming from the minute she got out of the bed. The clothes didn't work, and the hair didn't work, and why does she have to do this and, "Oops, I forgot my homework," and you know, 30 minutes after she's out the, out of bed we're at each other's throats. It's just, it's tough being a parent. It's real tough.

DRIVING MY KID CRAZY
Oh, what do I do that drives my daughter crazy? I think she would say that I criticize her all the time, and it's funny because that's what I used to say to my mom: "Stop criticizing me! You're always criticizing me, why aren't I ever good enough for you?" But I see now that my mom wasn't criticizing me. She was just making comments, and that's all I'm trying to do with my daughter is give her information. But she doesn't want my information, she wants everything done her way.

SCHOOL DAZE
One of the things we're struggling with right now is school. She's just started middle school, so it's very different, and I try to help her by structuring things so that she has time to do homework, but I don't know what her homework is. We went through that this morning. I mean, last night I went through every single subject -- do you have homework in this, do you have homework in this? "No, no, I've done everything. I've done all my homework." Gets up this morning, I come out ready to go to school, and I see her scribbling on her papers, like, "What is that?" "It's my homework!" AHHH!
